Behind “Faith Enough to Move”: Taking the Step Without Knowing the Outcome

The idea for “Faith Enough to Move” began during one of my walks, when I was recording thoughts about a decision I needed to make.

At the time, I was considering purchasing a piece of software as an investment in one of my business projects. Like many business decisions, there was no guaranteed outcome. I could think through the possibilities, weigh the cost, and consider what I hoped to accomplish—but I could not know with certainty that the investment would pay off.

That decision led me to think more deeply about faith.

Faith does not always mean knowing that everything will work out exactly as we planned. Sometimes it means recognizing an idea, an inner nudge, or a sense of direction and being willing to take the next step without seeing the entire path.

We can become stuck waiting for proof. Doubt and fear can convince us that we should not move until the outcome is certain. But most meaningful decisions do not come with that kind of guarantee. There comes a point when thinking and planning must be followed by action.

The outcome may be better than we expected. It may be completely different from what we imagined. Even when something does not produce the result we hoped for, it may still teach us something valuable, lead us in a new direction, or create something that benefits someone else. That does not necessarily make the step a failure.

As I continued recording those thoughts, I began to realize that they could become the foundation of a song about faith—not only faith in a business decision, but faith as something that can guide us through many different choices, challenges, and new beginnings.

As the song developed, I wanted it to feel spiritual and reflective without sounding like a sermon. The message is broad enough for anyone who has felt drawn toward an idea, opportunity, or new beginning but hesitated because they could not see what would happen next.

Sometimes we do not need complete certainty. We simply need enough trust to begin with what is already in our hands, follow the guidance we feel, and take one step forward.

That is the heart behind “Faith Enough to Move.”
